01 Describe the Drainage Location

Begin with the location and intended use of the drainage system. A grate may be part of a curbside inlet, a channel or another drainage arrangement. Share the layout and project specification so that the product discussion is tied to the actual site conditions.

The drainage designer should determine the required hydraulic performance and suitability for the expected traffic and users. The appearance of a grate or the number of visible slots does not establish whether it meets the project requirements.

02 Confirm the Complete Assembly

Huantu’s catalog separates drainage gratings from framed drainage gratings. Make clear whether you require the grate alone or the grate with its supporting frame. For replacements, provide the existing seat and support dimensions.

Include length, width, depth and the relevant support details. If fixing points, hinges, locking features or particular opening patterns are required, show them on the drawing. Confirm compatibility rather than assuming products of a similar nominal size are interchangeable.

03 Review the Project Specification

List the specified material, load class, finish and any documentation requirements. Opening geometry and surface characteristics should be reviewed for the expected users and location. Ask the responsible designer to confirm the selection criteria.
