Round or Square: Choosing the Right Cover

01 Distinguish the Cover from the Frame

A round cover does not always come with a round outer frame. Huantu’s catalog includes both round manhole cover assemblies and square frames with circular covers. Describing only the visible shape can therefore leave an important part of the requirement unclear.

When requesting a quotation, describe the removable cover, the frame and the opening separately. A photograph of the complete assembly is helpful alongside a dimensioned drawing. For replacement work, show the existing seating arrangement as well as the top surface.

02 Compare the Dimensions That Matter

The clear opening describes the access space through the frame. The outside frame dimensions describe how much space the assembly occupies within the surrounding construction. The installation depth is another separate measurement. Similar-looking covers may differ in all three.

Ask your project designer or installation contractor to confirm the required interface with the chamber. Do not assume that two products with the same nominal cover size can be exchanged without checking their frame details.

03 Keep Shape Separate from Performance

Shape alone does not establish load capacity, sealing performance or suitability for a location. Review the specified material, load class, surface pattern, lifting arrangement and any required locking features. Request product-specific evidence where the project calls for it.

• Identify the installation location and expected use
• Confirm the cover and outer-frame shapes
• Provide clear opening, outside dimensions and depth
• List required performance documents and special features

04 Review the Product Options

Start with our round manhole covers or square frame covers. Select the closest product family, then send the drawing and quantity for review. If the installation requires a different casting shape, include the full specification in your inquiry rather than adapting dimensions from a photograph.
